The Vikings made a bright debut in the VTB United League. Our team won three games at the start of the season and topped the standings.
The next test is the game against Pari Nizhny Novgorod on October 15. The club has a rich history of playing in the VTB United League. Last season they also became Russian Cup winner. This season Pari NN got a big win over Minsk (89:60) in the first round and then defeated Parma (67:61) on the road.
Nizhny has several experienced players on its roster. Bryon Allen is the best scorer of the team right now. Evgeny Baburin, Ivan Strebkov, Alexander Gankevich have been spending together for much more than one season. Also last summer VTB League 2023 champion Andrey Vorontsevich joined the club.
Cameron Young was Runa's most productive player in the opening games of the season – 18.3 points per game. Nikola Ivanovic averaged 15 points, 4 assists and 1.3 steals. Ilya Popov shows excellent productivity too – in three games of the VTB League 23/24 he averaged 10.7 points in 17.9 minutes on the floor.
This time the Vikings will have one more trump card – fan's energy. There is always great atmosphere at Runa games at the Dynamo Sports Palace in Moscow.
